I am Anthony Limbrick Jr.
When I first arrived to Prairie View A&M University, I had dreams of being and actor. But unbeknownst to me, a year before I enrolled, their Theatre program was shut down for a hazing incident.
Since I was on scholarship with the United States Marine Corps., I couldn't back out of going to PVAMU. So, my parents convinced me to change my major to business finance. Always looking for a bright side, I figured that with a business degree, I could start a production company (for theatrical performances). So, I went along with it, but I always had a feeling that something was missing.
Longing to stay in the theatre realm, I joined a theatre club, and one of the students there was a photographer who was promoting a performance that the club was performing. Being a curious person by nature, asked to see what his DSLR camera was capable of. Now, prior to this, I've only used my cellphone as a camera, which being an android phone, was never good quality...
But after I held his camera and snapped my first picture, it felt more exhilarating than the first time I performed in high school play for my parents. It was at that point in my life... that I knew camera needed to be in it!
I recently switched my major to marketing because it would be more compatible with my goals as a photographer, and my revamped dream is to start a production company that makes films as well as live performances.
Now as a junior in college, I am a photographer and videographer outside class work and plan to continue to pursue my passions after fulfilling my military commitment. I've done event photography for Marquis of Vaudeville, a twisted metal band whose music can be heard on the TV shows Dexter and Charmed. Also Camino Novayer, a spanish rock band from Houston, TX.
I've single handedly recorded and edited a live theatrical performance entitled Black Nativity by Director Trey Morgan Lewis, a Prairie View Alumni and Co-Director of Sankofa Collective.
And I've also made multiple promotional videos for the Prairie View Paintball Club.
